Brazillian Trader

This is one of those great, thirst-quenching type of cocktails.  Sure it's winter, but hey...sometimes you can't help but be in a summer-time state of mind regardless of what the temperature is outside!  But if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area like I do, it's been 70 and sunny this past week, making it very easy to forget that it's really winter.

1.5 oz. Leblon Cachaca
1.5 oz. Hibiscus Syrup, home-made (it's a 1:2 syrup, meaning 1 part sugar to 2 parts water, hence the 1.5 ounces of syrup instead of the usual 3/4 to 1 oz that you'd see for a syrup in a cocktail like this)
1/4 oz. Batavia Arrack
1/2 oz. Blood Orange Juice, fresh
1/2 oz. Lime Juice, fresh
A dash of Tiki Bitters

Shake and strain into a 12 or 13 oz. Collins glass over fresh ice
Top off with seltzer water, or for a spicy note, use ginger beer
Garnish with lime twist and a hibiscus flower pod

Delicious.  Cheers!
